Most comedians tell you a story. Tony Law tells you about the time he went time-travelling with his sausage dog, Cartridge Davison, and somehow you go along with it. The Canadian-born, London-based absurdist is one of the genuine originals of British comedy — a master of surreal, ad-libbed nonsense delivered at full tilt, often in some manner of pseudo-historical get-up.

The accolades are real and they're earned. His 2011 Fringe sell-out Go! Mr Tony! Go! took the Amused Moose Laughter Award and a Chortle Best Breakthrough gong; the following year Maximum Nonsense landed an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination plus Chortle wins for Best Live Show and Best Club Comic. Telly has come calling too — Have I Got News For You, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Comedy Central's Alternative Comedy Experience among them.

Go in expecting logic and you'll be lost. Surrender to it and it's one of the funniest hours going. Properly, gloriously unhinged.
